How to install ceramic tile

Laying Ceramic Tile

ceramic tile install

Using a heavy grade applicator I started to spread out the adhesive. Keeping the angle of my applicator the same throughout the whole process is important and makes for a more even finish.

Knowing that I couldn't do the entire floor at once I would stop the adhesive just inside the edge of the tiles. Checking the starter row off of one of the existing lines as I went kept the first row perfectly straight and should allow the rest of the tiles to stay straight as well. I did notice as I was scraping the floor, that the original concrete was poured uneven in a few areas which could throw off my lines a little. The thickness of the adhesive should float the tiles over these high areas of concrete.

Laying the tiles is actually the easiest part of the whole job. Make sure to place spacers appropriately and check them from time to time to make sure they are properly spaced.

cutting the tiles to fit is somewhat easier than expected, for this one I just marked the difference and allowed a little space for the spacer. You never want a tile to rest against a wall or cabinet in this case.
