Installing French Doors

Assembling the Header

Here's a picture of me assembling the header to go above the french doors. Remember, always measure twice to cut once. In this instance, I will be sandwiching some left over cement board from another job between the two pieces of lumber to get the desired width of the header.

Here's a picture of me cutting the cement board to size to place between the two header boards.

Here I've taken this picture to show you how I've nailed the header boards together to make the final product. This is important or else I wouldn't have taken a picture of it. Luckily, my webmaster is smart enough to figure this out and I can add text to this to tell him and you why I did this. I am that good.

Ok, we've got the header ready for installation. That looks strong enough to support not only the second floor but a third floor addition on top of this old Cape Cod.
