Ohio State Buckeye Room

Ohio State Buckeye Room

This room is very white and bland. It's about to be changed into a child's dream room. First thing I did was remove all the posters, pictures, etc., including all the pieces of scotch tape still stuck to the walls. Once I had a "blank canvas" to work with it didn't take long to get motivated to start working.

Here's a shot of an old ceiling fan that still works well but needs to match the theme of the room. So, with a little creative inspiration from my neighbor it's about to transform into a real Buckeye fan!

Because the main colors I'll be using are dark (scarlet and grey), I'll need to have a undercoating of a deep base of some sort. So instead of spending the money budgeted for the paint on primer, I'll use the grey finish paint for my base coat of the red areas. In other words I'm going to paint the entire room with the grey and finish the scarlet later.

After two coats of grey satin latex wall paint had been installed on the walls and ceiling it was time to start adding the rest of the colors planned for the Buckeye theme room.

Here I'm making an attempt at duplicating the football helmet stripe design on one of the walls that will remain grey. Using 3M blue tape designed especially for striping paint, I start the first color. There are three different colors in the helmet stripe so it's going to take a little drying time and removing and reapplying the tape to get nice straight edges on the stripes.
